The Federal Skilled Worker Program:Federal skilled worker applications received on or after February 27, 2008 are now assessed for eligibility according to a set of instructions issued by the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism. The Provincial Nominee Program:* There are several provincial nominee programs which offer specific skilled worker categories based on the needs of the various provinces. The applicants are assessed under specific provincial selection criteria’s and must intend to live in the selected province. Manitoba for instances has 5 application streams such as employers direct, community stream, family stream, international students stream, strategic recruitment and the general assessment stream.

*Applicants who are nominated by the province will still have to undergo federal medical and security clearances.
